COVID-19 Info

Hi All

I hope this email finds you well.  Please find some information below regarding the CoronaVirus, this was from a work colleague's daughter, who is a doctor in Melbourne.

COVID-19 will change the way we live. But we need to stay at home to limit the spread. It is the only thing that is going to give our health system a chance. This virus does not discriminate, it can affect all of us severely and not just elderly. We need our health system to be able to cope with heart attacks/car accidents/appendicitis, as well as manage COVID-19.

When out in the community I would encourage you to be aware of what surfaces you touch.

The virus can lasts for:
- 2-3 days on Plastic and stainless steel surfaces
- up to 24 hours on cardboard
- 3 hours in the air as droplets
- lasts on fabric for 6-7 hours

As the virus lasts for hours on surfaces. I would encourage you to take the bare necessities with you when leaving the house. Take any plastic cover off your phone for the next few months. When going to the shops, place it in a plastic zip lock bag. Your phone works through the plastic bag. Place your Drivers licence and your eftpos/credit card in the bag. The tap function works through plastic bag too. Do NOT take your wallet or handbag with you.

Take fabric bags without plastic bottom inner. When you get home do not wear your shoes inside. You can track the virus inside on your shoes. Wash the fabric bags in the washing machine and hang out to dry for next use.

Wash your hands with soap and water when you get home. Before you touch anything and then after touching things you brought in the home.

When you get home I would wipe down the packages, throw out cardboard outer boxes, wash fruit and vegetables.

Always remembering to wash your hands with hand sanitiser/soap and water and don't touch your face throughout all of this.

Kind regards, Heidi
