ACTIVE CLUB GRANTS

VicHealth's Active Club Grants recognise the important role local clubs/organisations play in increasing physical activity and helping communities stay connected. To create greater opportunities for clubs to access Active Club Grants, VicHealth will run two rounds of funding, opening 12 January 2015 and closing 13 February 2015.

Grants of up to $3,000 are on offer to community sport and active recreation clubs across Victoria to assist with the purchase of:
  • sports injury prevention and management equipment
  • essential sporting equipment/items.
Important information:
  • Priority will be given to applications from clubs/organisations who can demonstrate that an Active Club Grant will increase opportunities for regular physical activity in their community.
  • All clubs submitting an application must agree to the program guidelines and terms and conditions as set out in the program guidelines.
  • All sporting clubs and active recreation organisations across Victoria are encouraged to apply.
  • Clubs who do not hold an incorporated status can apply but must include written consent through an auspice agreement with a state sporting association.
  • Printed program guidelines and application forms can be made available to clubs that do not have internet access.

LOCAL LEGENDS

Local Legends is back for the 2014/15 summer and is bigger then ever!

Swimming Australia's Local Legends program aims to recognise and reward members of clubs who give up their time voluntarily in clubs across Australia.

Members can use the button below to nominate a volunteer at their club who deserves recognition for all the hard work that they put in. Just tell us in 100 words or less about your club's Local Legend and each month three nominations will feature in a facebook competition to decide the Volunteer of the Month!

All three will win a Swim Cap signed by a member of the Australian Swim Team and the Volunteer of the Month will win a $100 Gift Card and a Speedo prize pack for their club valued at $1200!

If your Local Legend wins Volunteer of the Year, they will be flown to the Swimming of the Year awards and your club will win a training session with an Australian Swim Team member and $2000!

INCLUSION MATTERS

MULTI CLASS APPLICATION FOR RECORD

If a Multi Class swimmer from your club has broken an Australian Record at a Swimming Victoria meet, the application form must be submitted to Swimming Australia within 14 days to be processed.

To ensure applications are received in time, Multi Class Application for Record forms are held in the recording room at each meet.

You can see either the Swimming Victoria Meet Supervisor or the Technical Director to get a form, fill it out on the spot and get it signed by the Meet Referee to ensure it is processed in time.

WELCOMING AND INCLUSIVE CLUBS

Gary Lyon, former Melbourne Football Club player, and now television and sport personality has filmed a series of short videos for Sport and Recreation Victoria.

The videos feature a range of topics such as:
  • How sport has the ability to bring people from all background and abilities together;
  • The importance of setting a good example and respecting those around you; and
  • Ensuring your club has a welcoming and inclusive environment for all athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators.
