For Swimmers, Officials and Parents:
Swimming Victoria is taking the next Regional Development Day to Sunraysia on Saturday 14 February! Swimming Victoria has planned an exciting day that is open to all Swimming Victoria members and is aimed at developing swimmers, parents, coaches, officials, volunteers and club administrators. Swimming Victoria has held Regional Development Days in Ballarat, Shepparton and Bendigo and each day has provided the community with a educational and fun filled day. Now it is Sunraysia's turn and registrations are now open!
All clubs and districts are invited to attend the Regional Development Day which includes elite coaches running training sessions to further improve swimmers technique. It's a great chance to learn something new from one of our very best Victorian coaches, Brad Harris and gives swimmers the opportunity to improve in all aspects of swimming from nutrition to goal setting. This day will not only help swimmers improve in the pool but it will also inspire them and mentally prepare them for racing.
The program will offer development opportunities for current and aspiring officials, coaches, administrators and volunteers. Swimming Victoria will hold a Swim Australia Teacher of Competitive Swimming for anyone looking to begin their coaching pathway. Chief Referee Joffre Charles will also deliver a number of officiating workshops for any officials seeking to upskill or increase their knowledge in any given areas. All members of the swimming community are encouraged to participate in education sessions to increase their knowledge in swimming whether it be parents looking to understand how officiating works or coaches looking to gain more clarification on how their swimmers are judged.
Coaching Course:
There have been some significant changes to the delivery, accreditation and requirements of a Bronze Licence Coach. The Bronze Licence Accreditation Course will now run over one day as opposed to two and will incorporate online learning modules. In addition to the changes in delivery, there are some changes to the requirements of a Bronze Licence Coach. In order to sit the Bronze Licence Accreditation Course, candidates will now be required to have completed the Swim Australia Teacher – Competitive Swimming (SAT-CS) Course qualification.
A SAT-CS Coach will be competent to deliver basic swimming squad sessions that develop the swimming technique of novice Swimmers – this is generally defined as Swimmers who are recent "Learn to Swim" Graduates and are in the likes of a "mini squad" (usually around 10-years and under) and still acquiring the skills needed to transition into competition. This Course is endorsed by Swimming Australia as the entry level course for the swimming coaching accreditation pathway.
Registrations:
Registrations can now be done on-line for the swimmers, parents, officials and those interested in the Coaching Course. The coaching course will cost $270 (payment not required on registration)
If you have any problems with registrations, please let me know ASAP.
Hurry - registrations close Friday 6th February. This opportunity does not come our way too often so we all need to support it for future events.
Please see attachments for more information.
