A huge thank you to Ron & Jo Morrish of Ouyen & District Spraying Pty Ltd  for generously offering to sponsor the Sprint meet – their support is much appreciated.

Many thanks also to all those who assisted with set up/pack up and the running of the meet – the SSI committee is grateful to have such an efficient crew of helpers.

We now look forward to the remainder of the swimming season with Pennants, Opens and Relay meets scheduled regularly throughout the coming months in the Mildura Waves 50m Outdoor Pool.

Fwd: Come & Try Swimming

Hi Everyone,

Due to the success of the All Schools Meet, SSI is holding a 'Come & Try Swimming' on Friday 15th November.

 

It will be from 5.00 - 6.00pm before our pennant meet, so hopefully the potential swimmers could stay and watch our swimmers at the 2nd pennant.  Andrew Lauterstein will be present during the Come & Try and the pennant.

 

If you know of anyone who may be interested, please forward this email to them.  I will have a few flyers with me today at the Sprint Meet and would appreciate if you could let your school know about this and try and possibly put in their newsletter.

Fwd: Coaching Clinic - Saturday 16th November

Hi Everyone,

 

SSI are pleased to advise that they have been able to secure Andrew Lauterstein (Olympic Swimming Champion) and Jo Forbes (local Personal Trainer - Jo Forbes Fitness) to conduct a coaching clinic here in Mildura on Saturday 16th November. 

 

Please see attached flyer, I will have some copies with me today at the Sprint Meet.

Payment for clinic to be made to SSI Treasurer Carolyn Gowers at the 1st Pennant on Friday 8th November.

 

Some background info on Andrew -

 

Andrew Lauterstein has recently hung up his goggles on an illustrious swimming career, but this is only just the start for the 26 year old. Andrew was one of Australia's most successful international level swimmers across a number of disciplines in his time on the National Team (2005-2011) winning International medals in Butterfly, Freestyle and Backstroke.

 

The World Champion and Triple Olympic Medalist has now taken on a number of mentoring positions within the Australian Swimming community and has also delved into the business world becoming owner of Engine Swim Australia.

 

Always a very popular member of the Swimming World, Andrew experienced all that swimming has to offer an athlete. Moving out of home at 18 to pursue his dream, travelling the world and racing with his best friends, he has also experienced the highs and lows of the tough World that being an athlete can offer.

 

Sickness made the last two years of his career a constant battle, with a commitment that never faulted Andrew gave his all to the very last swim. It is this very passion for the sport and the delicate balance of life and sport that Andrew has shown his whole career that makes him the perfect role model for any inspiring athlete, or person wanting to get the most out of themselves in any facet of life.

If you could please advise swimmers wishing to attend to email their entries directly to me by 5pm Friday 25^th October (I will then arrange SV clearances and relay teams over the weekend as I will not have time to do on Monday 28^th October)

Payment must be made directly to your club and one cheque then sent to SSI Treasurer (Swimmers are not to pay SSI directly this season)

Club Captains 2013-14

Please see Lorraine's email below seeking expression of interest in Club Captain for the upcoming season.

 

 

Once again we have the important issue of Club Captains for the 2013-14 season to consider. The Irymple Swimming Club Committee are seeking expressions of interest in the positions from all swimmers aged 14 years and over. The Committee would like to strongly encourage 14 years and over swimmers to please consider putting up your hand for one of these positions. There is a brief description of the role attached to this email for your information.

 

It is also hoped that the senior swimmers will form a "leadership group" to work with the Club Captains in helping and encouraging new and younger members of the Club.

 

Could all 14 and over swimmers please reply to this email at itinker@bigpond.net.au to let us know if you are interested in the Club Captain positions.

 

Your response by 31st October would be much appreciated.
