SSI are pleased to advise that they have been able to secure Andrew Lauterstein (Olympic Swimming Champion) and Jo Forbes (local Personal Trainer - Jo Forbes Fitness) to conduct a coaching clinic here in Mildura on Saturday 16th November.

Payment for clinic to be made to SSI Treasurer Carolyn Gowers at the 1st Pennant on Friday 8th November.

 

Some background info on Andrew -

 

Andrew Lauterstein has recently hung up his goggles on an illustrious swimming career, but this is only just the start for the 26 year old. Andrew was one of Australia's most successful international level swimmers across a number of disciplines in his time on the National Team (2005-2011) winning International medals in Butterfly, Freestyle and Backstroke.

 

The World Champion and Triple Olympic Medalist has now taken on a number of mentoring positions within the Australian Swimming community and has also delved into the business world becoming owner of Engine Swim Australia.

 

Always a very popular member of the Swimming World, Andrew experienced all that swimming has to offer an athlete. Moving out of home at 18 to pursue his dream, travelling the world and racing with his best friends, he has also experienced the highs and lows of the tough World that being an athlete can offer.

 

Sickness made the last two years of his career a constant battle, with a commitment that never faulted Andrew gave his all to the very last swim. It is this very passion for the sport and the delicate balance of life and sport that Andrew has shown his whole career that makes him the perfect role model for any inspiring athlete, or person wanting to get the most out of themselves in any facet of life.

Club Captains 2013-14

Please see Lorraine's email below seeking expression of interest in Club Captain for the upcoming season.

 

 

Once again we have the important issue of Club Captains for the 2013-14 season to consider. The Irymple Swimming Club Committee are seeking expressions of interest in the positions from all swimmers aged 14 years and over. The Committee would like to strongly encourage 14 years and over swimmers to please consider putting up your hand for one of these positions. There is a brief description of the role attached to this email for your information.

 

It is also hoped that the senior swimmers will form a "leadership group" to work with the Club Captains in helping and encouraging new and younger members of the Club.

 

Could all 14 and over swimmers please reply to this email at itinker@bigpond.net.au to let us know if you are interested in the Club Captain positions.

Hi Everyone,

Membership

Please see membership form for this season attached.  Swimming Victoria has decided to bring the swimming year inline with the financial year, so this season is 14 months not 12 months as in the past, so there has been an increase in fees for this season.  Irymple Swimming Club has decided to absorb half of the cost for competitors to keep the cost down for families.

 

Fees for this season are as follows;

Competitor $150.00

Non-competitor $35.00

Official $15.50

 

It is a requirement by Swimming Victoria that all committee members are to be registered and I encourage parents also to become members.

 

Dust Buster - Saturday 13th July

Please see flyer attached.  Entries close on Saturday at 12pm.  Please enter online www.irympleswimmingclub.com.au by 12 noon on Saturday.  SSI relies on the support on all families to ensure that the Dust Buster is a success.  Please encourage your swimmers to enter the Dust Buster.

 

Winter Training

Training has now commenced on Wednesdays at 4.30pm at the Mildura Waves for all Sunraysia members.  Training sessions are being conducted by Cameron Douglass and Mark Slade.  Sunday training will continue with Teresa Crisp as normal at 4.00pm.

 

Clinton would also like to invite any swimmer or parent who would like to join him and Simon for a swim at the Waves on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm.  If you are interested in joining them please email Clinton your mobile number okwill@bigpond.com

Clinton will send a text in the morning if they are swimming that evening.

Winter Training

Training has commenced for winter, so no excuses not to get back in the pool. We would encourage all swimmers to do 2 sessions per week, using the upcoming Dust Buster Meet in July as your goal.

SSI will be offering a session on Sundays at the Waves Pool, 4pm - 5pm with coaching from Teresa Crisp. You must renew your club membership via Robyn Obrien for insurance reasons.

Irymple are currently training during the week with Simon, Clinton and Olivia. Should you wish to join these sessions send Clinton an email or sms with your moblie number. We will then sms you in the morning advising that training will on that night and the time. We have arranged it this way due to other work and personal commitments.  Most sessions will be Mon, Tues and Thurs nights 6pm - 7:30pm.

Hi Everyone,

Please see program attached for tomorrow night's T & I Shield.  Just a reminder to wear your Irymple shirt for the march past and Irymple caps for swimming.

 

Sunraysia Swimming is putting on a free sausage sizzle and a can of soft drink for all swimmers on Friday as a thank you for your support during this season.

 

As this is the last meet for the season with the presentations of trophies and shields - All clubs and swimmers are reminded to return all perpetual trophies and shields to the clubrooms on Friday.

Hi Everyone,

Please see results of District Championships now uploaded..

 

Sunday - as this is the first time that All Junior Eliminations and Proficiences have been combined there will be no program distributed.  Any swimmer wanting to do untimed proficiencies are welcome to come and put their name down tomorrow.  The meet starts at 4pm and Irymple is down for set up, so if you could be there by about 3.15pm that would be great.  As there are not many swimmers tomorrow all parents will be required to do timekeeping.

Cost will be $75 per swimmer and $50 per adult.

Very Funky Aquathon

The Very Funky Aquathon is on Sat 25th Jan for those girls who are interested. Information is on the website at www.runningwateradventures.com.au.

With many people approaching a Christmas break, and perhaps an absence from email, it might be worth your while friending Very Funky Aquathon Facebook page.

 

At the very least, you'll see cool photos of our race girls, get a look at event trophies and prizes, (importantly) see news about any training we might do through summer, and maybe even win something Funky!

 

Thanks for all the early bird entries. A number of girls are off to Deakin Cinema Centre with our compliments. It really does make a big difference to our race planning and catering, and will keep you enthusiastic about sport in the festive season. Go for it!

 

We have partnered a number of girls already. Please let us know if you are stuck for a team swimmer/runner and we'll send out the hounds.
