Hi Everyone,
Meet Mobile - SSI would like to let everyone know that due to an upgrade in equipment "live results" are now available during each of our Pennants, the Irymple Open, Sunraysia Open and other selected meets this year.
By downloading the "Meet Mobile App" results can be checked during a meet. Download the "Meet Mobile App" for your iphone from the apple store or your Android phone from google play, it's free.
To find us simply search for Sunraysia and select the current meet. The day leading up to a meet a psych sheet will be displayed, then during the meet you will be able to see live results on the application. The results will remain on Meet Mobile for a week after each meet.
As the results may need to be changed due to DQ's etc or human error please do not regard the results as final. The results will still be printed and posted at each meet for those who do not have access to a phone.
Clinton Williams will be available on Friday night to show you how the app works.
Behavioural Guidelines - It is that time of the year again for a reminder that Sunraysia Swimming do enforce the Swimming Australia Behavioural Guidelines at all swim meets upholding the principles of Fairness, Respect, Responsibility and Safety. The Behavioural Guidelines can be found on the Swimming Victoria website or a brochure can be picked up from the recorders desk at pennant meets.
Swim Meet Reminders -
Entries - Parents and clubs should only enter swimmers in events that they are sure they will be able to swim. There is a qualifying time of 3:00 minutes for 100m events, 5:00 minutes for 200m events and 8:00 minutes for 400m events and 14:00 minutes for 800m and 25:00 minutes for 1500m events. If you are estimating an entry time, please make sure that it is fair and reasonable so that another swimmer is not at any disadvantage.
Marshalling - Swimmers must marshal at the designated marshalling area. If a swimmer does not marshal on time they will not be permitted to swim in that event. Please teach your swimmer to keep an eye on the marshalling board at swim meets so they don't miss their events. Marshalling can be an excitable place for some swimmers and the noise can get quite loud, please encourage them to remain quiet as this may cause a swimmer not to hear their name being called or may distract the swimmers about to race. Once the swimmer has been marshalled and proceeds to the starting blocks, swimmers and spectators should remain quiet. If you are a swimmer who has just finished your race and the next race is starting over the top of you - you must remain against the wall or lane rope and keep quiet. You must not speak to the person next to you or the swimmer about to race. Parents and coaches must not approach or speak with the swimmer at this stage.
Swimming Caps - Competitors are expected to wear their club swimming cap for all pennant and relay meets.
Swimwear - Swimmers who swim locally and away should be wearing FINA Approved swimwear. Both male and females should only be wearing one pair of bathers at a time e.g. no jocks or speedos under boys kneelength bathers or bikinis tops or bottoms under girls bathers.
FINA By-Laws state:
BL 8.2 In swimming competitions the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one or two pieces. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit.
BL 8.3 From January 1, 2010 swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below knee. All swimsuits shall be made from textile materials.

For a list of FINA approved swimwear by brand go to fina.org
Please note: Some of the above reminders are made in an effort to prepare our swimmers for meets outside our area.
Meet Officials - Diana Lyons is again looking for parents to become officials. We need at least one official per 25 swimmers at our meets. There are a range of official positions within from Timekeeper, Marshal, Recorder, Starter, Judge of Stroke, Referee. Diana will be commencing with timekeeper accreditation over the next two pennants. We know many of our parents are very well experienced in timekeeping - so why not make it official? If you are interested, please let Diana know prior to the commencement of the meet and she will observe your timekeeping skills during the course of the meet.
Kind Regards
Sunraysia Swimming Inc.
