Hi Everyone,

Please distribute the Last Blast program to everyone in your club. Please note that this meet is in Merbein.

At the SSI meeting it was decided that Merbein will do a bbq and raffle, Robinvale will do the hospitality, Robyn will assist Maaike on computer and all other positions will be filled on the night. Please come forward to volunteer for a position on the night. Presentations will follow this meet.

BASIC STEPS TO BECOMING AN OFFICIAL

1. Interested?  Let your swimming club know!
2. Complete the free online General Principles Course (see above).  On completing the online course email the officials@vic.swimming.org.au to advise SV so you can be added into the database.  Please Remeber:  You will need to register and create a login before you attempt the course (or if you have already registered previously and forgotten your password - you will need to retrieve your password).
3. Liaise with your club to attend a workshop for the accreditation module you would like to do.  Once you have done the workshop your details will be forwarded to Swimming Victoria so we know you are progressing with your training. If your club doesn't have any workshops organised at the time, they can liaise with their District and/or District Referee to arrange one.
4. Practice!  Now you know the theory, it is time to venture out to pool deck at your Club or District and practice the skills for the accreditation module.
5. Are you ready?  Liaise with your Club/District to be assessed in a practical environment.  There are Assessors in each District, alternatively this can be arranged through the Swimming Victoria.
6. Feedback.  Talk to your Assessor about how you went.  If your Assessor deems you  competent, Congratulations! Once the paperwork is finalised with Swimming Victoria you will receive your Accreditation Card from Swimming Australia within 4-6 weeks.  If you are not quite ready to be accredited, keep up the practice and arrange another assessment when you feel you have further developed your skills.
7. Officiate!  You are now ready to hit pool deck and take the best seat in the house at events!  You can continue to develop yourself as an official and increase your skills by selecting other modules and becoming accredited in a variety of positions.

Club Championships & Tea

Morning All,

Just a reminder that the club championships will be held next Tuesday 27/3/18 from 5.30-6.30 at the Irymple Pool. Please remember to send in your entries.  Since this will be our last training session and we need to vacate the pool by 6.30 we would like to invite everyone to come for tea at the Irymple Pub straight after swimming. I will need to book a table so please let me know if you are able to join us.

Training at Irymple - end of season

Hi Everyone,

Mandy is away this week so training today will be with Lauren and Thursdays will be with Alison Curry.

This will be the last week of training at Irymple with Club Championships to be held next Tuesday.

We have a short break and will commence winter training at the Waves during May - if you could give me a preferred day that will be great to help planning.

Trophies - could all perpetual trophies be returned to the clubrooms this week please.

Good luck to those swimming in Swan Hill on Thursday for school swimming.

Club Championships - Tuesday 27th

Hi Everyone,

We will be running our Club Championships next Tuesday at the Irymple Pool instead of club training.

We will be starting at 5.30pm sharp, due to the pool closing at 6.30pm.  If you can be there a little bit earlier to set up that would be great.  We will need parents to stay and timekeep as well.

Cost is $3.50 per event - payable on the day

Club Championships are usually only open to registered competitors but this season we have decided to include members who have joined this season as recreational swimmers.  After all your training over the summer, it would be nice to give you an opportunity to compete.

Please email your entries back to this address preferably by Monday evening but I will still take them on the day.

Events are freestyle, backstroke,breaststroke and butterfly, 

1 lap up 10 years

2 laps 11 - 16 years (except butterfly which is 1 lap)

17/over - optional 1 or 2 laps

Thank you to everybody that came to Dareton and supported our relay on Friday night.

A reminder that swim vic are visiting our region to help us with our club audits on Wednesday and Thursday, it is a great opportunity for our region to get support without the travel.

A reminder that the T&I shield/ Last blast will be held at the Merbein Pool and all the shields need to be returned to the Mildura Club rooms at the SSI meeting on Wednesday night.

A reminder that the relay will be at Dareton this year. We are putting on a BBQ sausages, steak and chicken snitzeals. I am not going to do a roster just would like everyone to help with time keeping. Murray Darling will try and cover most jobs. Also a reminder that shields need to be back at the next SSI meeting, next week. Looks like this years weather conditions will be better than the 45 degrees we work through last year.
